|Bio||Line Matter are an original Melbourne jazz band playing dynamic, driving and melodic music. Influenced by Pat Metheny, John Scofield, John McLaughlin, Miles Davis and others the quartet creates a unique blend of jazz/fusion music.
The band has playing regularly around Melbourne since early 2016 at venues including Bar Oussou, The Woodlands Hotel, Lebowski’s, The Wesley Anne and The Fox Hotel. The band also runs a monthly Sunday afternoon jazz jam at The Wesley Anne in Northcote. Another highlight in the bands career was its performance at the 2016 Wangaratta Jazz Festival and the 2017 Castlemaine Jazz Festival.

Jonathan Moore – Guitar
VCA graduate and gifted improviser Jonathan also contributes to Line Matter as a composer with many of his pieces acting as standards in the bands repertoire.
Tom Benson – Tenor Sax
Tom is a highly experienced and flexible saxophonist playing in numerous Melbourne bands including the Senegambian Jazz Band. In the Line Matter he brings a commanding yet sensitive tone to the music.
Anthony Pell – Electric Bass
Creating a fluid but solid foundation Anthony’s playing in Line Matter is reminiscent of Jaco Pastorius’ work with Pat Metheny. He also contributes several tunes to the bands repertoire.
Sebastian Jego – Drums
Sebastien is an exciting drummer greatly influenced by Elvin Jones. Coming from the south of France Sebastian has performed with numerous bands and musicians including bassist Christian McBride.
