The lineup features Sancha Prowse (Vocals, Mandolin), Marcus Holden (Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Vocals) Garry Steel (Accordion) & Stan Valacos (Double Bass, Guitar).
From Leonard Cohen to Alison Krauss with a hint of Chick Corea, you'll be enthralled by this swinging quartet!
Join this exuberant quartet as they perform their unique arrangements of well known jazz standards, fused with celtic lilts, bluegrass honesty, gospel stirrings and moving folk tunes.
Sancha & the Blue Gypsies have just recently released their debut CD "A Fine Line". Featuring an impressive 14 tracks, this CD captures masterful arrangements of a collection of well - known and much loved tunes from some of the world’s greatest songwriters – Dolly Parton (Jolene), Richard Thompson (Dimming of the Day), Burt Bacharach (What the World Needs Now), Leonard Cohen (Dance me to the End of Love),Chick Corea (Spain) and the timeless gospel gems, Wayfaring Stranger and I’ll Fly Away. Added to these perennial favourites are a couple of incredible covers of iconic Australian anthems by The Church (Under the Milky Way), the Divinyls (Pleasure and Pain) and John Farnham (You’re the Voice).
This creative four-some are winning over audiences far and wide with their energetic and engaging stage presence and banter.
After only forming a year ago they are already making a lasting impression with their audiences and are gathering a very loyal following of fans. They have performed at the Troubadour Folk Club, St Albans Folk Festival, the Newcastle Jazz festival and have upcoming performance at Fairlight and Hornsby Folk Clubs as well as the Avoca Beach Picture Theatre. They are regular performers at Sydney’s most recognised clubs - Foundry 616, Django Bar @ Camelot Lounge, Petersham Bowling Club, The Manly Fig, Humph Hall and have recently wowed audiences at the Newcastle Jazz Festival. They have two mini tours booked for the end of 2017 - one down the South Coast of NSW including shows at the Illawarra Jazz Club, the National Press Club in Canberra and the Down South Jazz Club in Merimbula. They are also performing at this year’s OzManouche Festival in Brisbane, QLD.
